As a result of baggage checking of tourists returning from Finland after the new year holidays, Russian customs officers confiscated a large number of undeclared goods, including exclusive watches and jewelry.

Such a prompt reaction and accurate work of the customs authorities alerted media representatives – journalists suggested that there was a permanent data exchange channel on purchases made by tourists. The Finnish customs stuff and operators of the tax free system were indicated as source of information.

Representatives of the Finnish side denied the mass data transfer and confirmed cooperation with the Russian customs in the framework of international treaties and provision of information within the specific requests for a certain fact of violation of the legislation. The heads of Global Blue company also confirmed inviolability of the information accumulated in the system during the process of tax refunds. Data transfer is possible, but only in the case of an official request for a certain individual.
