The state company Arctic Oy has declared its readiness to assist in the work of the Russian icebreaker vessels on the new Northern sea route.

In 2015 an agreement between Russia and Finland was reached on joint work to organize the passage of ships in the ice of the Baltic sea. The regulation was defined on assistance providing to the vessel of a state, the possibility of icebreakers crossing the Maritime borders of two states. Previously difficult and unpredictable situation of ice movement in the Gulf of Finland and lack of coordination led to demurrage of ships on the one hand and excessive load on the other one.

Now the young company, which combined the Finnish icebreaking services, offers to use 8 icebreakers available for work on the North sea route – one of the most important areas of the Maritime transport between the Northern ports of the Russian Federation, Europe and the Far East.
