Rosgranstroy together with the transport agency of Finland plan to reconstruct the main checkpoint between the two countries completely by 2021.

Over the past ten years the load on the "Torfyanovka" has increased significantly; at the moment, the point is one of the busiest between Russia and the European Union. Therefore, the interest in modernization was expressed not only by the Finnish side, but also by EU representatives. It is from the pan-European budget that more than 3.5 million euros are planned to be allocated for this project after its approval in the European Commission.

According to the plan of reconstruction in "Torfyanovka" transport streams will be divided – there will be a new exit corridor with eight lanes. A new terminal will be built for tourist groups, separate lanes will be allocated for buses with tourists. As a result, the point will be able to pass more than 3,500 cars, almost 2,000 trucks and up to 200 buses per day.
