This week the specialists of the Russian company Transport Integration will present a study on the assessment of passenger traffic between the two countries to the government structures of Finland for discussion. The city of Svetogorsk is recognized as a promising point.

Border Svetogorsk with its checkpoint on the railway was recognized by experts as the most promising in terms of increasing the number of passenger and freight traffic. If the railway line passing through the city, originating in the Northern capital, will be extended to Lappenranta, the number of tourists in this direction may exceed 1 million per year. After all, Lappeenranta attracts attention not only for its natural attractions and major shopping centers, but also the presence of the airport, from which it is easy to fly to many major European cities.

The development of railway communication is also important for Finnish tourists, who occupy a leading position in the number of foreigners visiting St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region from year to year.
