TIR stays at the Finnish-Russian border

The dispute over the customs charges between "ASMAP" and Russian customs was resolved by the agreement between the parties to preserve previous agreements. The cargo system TIR, which allows not to get customs clearance for the goods directly at the border will continue to operate on the border of Russia and the Republic of Finland in the normal mode.

In the past two years, the differences between the Russian customs and the Association of International Road Carriers has repeatedly led to the termination of freight on certain checkpoints at the border. Finnish officials in late June have been notified about the continuation of the system TIR.

According to the adviser on customs issues Tommi Kivilaakso, this decision is of great importance not only for Finland, but for the whole transport system of the EU.
