The improvement of infrastructure in the ports of Helsinki and Tallinn is funded by the EU

Shipping line between Tallinn and Helsinki requires significant investments in the infrastructure of Finnish and Estonian ports. The annual volume of freight between the ports of Estonia and Finland there is more than 3 million tons of cargo and the number of passengers reaches almost 8 million.

Having understood the importance and the need to ensure safety of freight and passenger transport, the European Commission provides 29.3 million euro to upgrade the infrastructure of ports of Tallinn and Helsinki on the approved project "Twin-Port II".

The financing will provide the construction of a new terminal in the Port of Helsinki and ramps, will improve communication between the port and the city. Tallinn port will be able to reconstruct the existing terminals and infrastructure to develop Old City Harbour. Part of the allocated EU funds will also be directed to the development of private shipping company Tallink.
