Intelligent corridor will accelerate goods traffic

Last week, the Federal Road Agency of the Russian Federation and Finnish Trafi Agency signed a memorandum aimed at the development of an automobile corridor between the two countries, increasing the level of safety and speed of goods traffic.

The main task is to create a stable traffic flow between Scandinavia and the Asian region. For this purpose, it is planned to use motorway sections in Finland and Russia (for example road M10), which are now actively being modernized. It is also expected to raise the issue of international cooperation with Kazakhstan for reconstruction of the local roads to the borders with China.

In addition, the creation of an active digital environment, that supports the goods traffic, is in progress. This includes the Scanway project for assistance in case of accidents, the system of data exchange on the roadway and weather conditions. It is also planned to create a system that ensures the priority passage of trucks through checkpoints, including by informing customs officers in advance. The system will also allow a sender to track the goods along the whole transportation route.

All this will increase the speed of the transport columns on the Finland-China route to the European level.
