VR Group updates its fleet for transporting Russian methanol
Publishedо 28 April, 2020
Finland's state-owned railway company VR Group has ordered 80 locomotives capable of carrying high-weight trains to optimize the delivery of methanol from the Russian Metafrax group. It is planned to close the contract in 6 years.

The Vectron model is able to transport trains with a total weight of 6 tons, but now the batch coming from the Russian side has to be split into several parts for sending to the ports of discharge Hamina and Kotka. Using more powerful locomotives will reduce delivery time and increase the turnover of Metafrax tanks, which is very important for one of the largest producers of methanol in Russia.
