Research on laying the Arctic Connect cable has started

At the end of last week, participants of the Russian-Finnish Arctic Connect project reported on the start of work aimed at studying the section of fiber-optic cable laying. This communication channel will be the first to operate in the Arctic basin.
The initiators of the project - MegaFon, one of the largest Telecom operators in the Russian Federation, and the Finnish state operator Cinia Oy - plan to complete the research by the end of 2020. The Arctic Connect cable will significantly reduce the data transfer time between the EU and the Asian region, as well as open access to information in the Far North.
