Finnish export to Russia decreased in the first half of 2015 by 35%

Finnish customs service reported that export dropped by 35% from the same period last year. 

According to experts , export began to decline in 2013 and not only for Russia but for other countries as well. Food industry became the most affected sector - food products export decreased by 78%. Key reason for the decline in exports is Russian embargo on certain food products from Finland. For example, export of the known company on the Russian market – Valio - was 90% before the sanctions, nowadays it dropped to 5%. Machinery and equipment exports fell to 38%, metal products exports decreased by 29%, woodworking industry products – by 27% and chemical industry products – by 15%.
