Businessmen from Finland told about the strategies to return on the Russian market during Finnish Business Forum

The largest Finnish business representatives shared their plans to return to the previous share of the Russian market during Finnish Business Forum held in St. Petersburg on October 26 this year.

Positive plans of the Finnish business is based on macroeconomic indicators. According to the Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland Mika Lintila, GDP of Finland and Russia will increase respectively by 3.5% and 1.5 % by the end of 2017. Finnish officials hope to establish an effective cooperation in such areas as artificial intelligence, and ecology.

From the Russian side, deputy head of economy and investments of the Leningrad region, Dmitry Yalov, offered Finnish companies looking for niches in a large cluster of the building materials production, which developed in the region. Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, Sergey Movchan, told about the investments of Petersburg (80 million euros) in its industrial zones development and invited Finnish businessmen to cooperate. Mr. Movchan also recalled that 30 largest Finnish companies increased their turnover in the Russian market by 6 % last year.

Business were more cautious in its assessments, but also optimistic, as representatives of the authorities. Optimism of the Finnish business, working with Russia and in Russia, is based on exports, recovery of the Russian domestic market, e-commerce and maintaining the level of products and services quality.

Today 400 Finnish companies work at the Russian market, they collectively invest 7.7 billion euros in the Russian economy at the end of this year.
