In the next two years, Finland's largest sea carriers are planning to spend more than 10 million euros on the development of modern digital systems for the industry growth.

The new industrial research association INTENS is supervised by one of the leading scientific and technical organizations in the European Union VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The company carries out a large number of applied researches and developments, the results of which are then actively used by Finnish and foreign enterprises. The main activity of INTENS is development and implementation of "smart" digital technologies that would enhance the competitiveness of the Finnish maritime-transport sector.

According to the members of the Association, this is possible due to reducing the level of energy consumption for goods delivery, which will lead to a reduction in the volume of emissions into the atmosphere. It is the goal that is becoming a priority for many companies in connection with the resolution adopted by the international Maritime organization on the need to reduce gas emissions by 50% by the middle of the 21st century. Digital developments of INTENS in the form of new software, components of control systems will allow better planning of transportation and use of existing capacities, which will lead to "greening" of the industry.
