Since December 14, after signing the Government Executive Order, has begun commercial operation of the Russian port "Bronka". According to the company engaged in construction of the port, "Bronka" in the nearest future will be able to take over 20% of market share of transhipment in the region and to start making a profit in 2 years - its capacity is designed totranship 1.5 million TEUs per year.

A press secretary for the Port of Helsinki Eeva Hietanen does not believe that the new Russian port can create direct competition to the largest Finnish port because transshipment of transit goods to Russia is only a few per cent of the turnover of the port of Helsinki. During his visit to the port "Bronka" the press secretary said that she can only congratulate the Russians with the opening of a new facility, because Finland already had such experience of building from scratch.
