With regard to electronic documents, in 2016 from Russia to Finland were transported by rail more than 3 million tons of cargo, which is 22.6% more than in 2014. Loads that have passed electronic registration are transferred from the station Kostomuksha in Russia through the checkpoint "Kivijärvi" from April, 2014.

According to the Russian Railways, electronic document management reduces time for the issue of 60 trucks in two times - from 1 hour to 29 minutes. Many of industrial companies of Karelia successfully use services of electronic customs clearance.
