With negative indices in 2015 in contrast to 2014 merchandise exports of Finland keep declining – its volume decreased by 10% in January compared with January last year. Import indices are also going down - according to preliminary data January decline was 9% in respect of the same period in 2015.

Export decline influenced all industries of Finland. Merchandise exports to the EU countries decreased by 9% and to outside the EU fell by 12%. Mutual European-Russian economic sanctions prevent the EU countries, including Finland, from coming to the same level of trade relations therefore manufacturers seek new market outlets. Thus, the volume of Finnish products exported to China showed a climb in January this year amid the decrease of goods export from Finland to Russia, Holland and Great Britain.
